Officer resigns ahead of hearing for gross misconduct

Wednesday, 17 July 2013

Ann Hall, Assistant Chief Officer at Cleveland Police has been allowed to resign.

Hall is currently being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission over allegations that thousands of pounds of unauthorized payments were made to an executive coaching company.

The IPCC have said the Halls resignation is ‘completely unacceptable’ and ‘frustrating’. The IPCC can’t prevent Hall from resigning. When staff or officers retire or resign while under investigation they escape any misconduct sanctions hence why it is frustrating that Ann Hall has resigned.

Ann Hall was planned to face a disciplinary hearing this month for gross misconduct

Commissioner of the IPCC stated: “While we cannot bring this case to a misconduct conclusion now, I believe it is in the public interest for our investigation to continue and we will publish the evidence and our conclusions, so that the public can judge the actions of Ann Hall for themselves."
